Position Summary

Dr. Ilan Cerna-Turoff (Assistant Professor, Weill Cornell Medicine) is looking to offer a part-time, paid position to support a NIH-funded study that will be responsible to perform longitudinal statistical methods for environmental exposures and health. The motivating example relates to non-random forest loss due to unmeasured incentives that drive people to set forest fires illegally and creating designs that produce less biased estimates of population health outcomes. Duties will mostly include working with the Principal Investigator and a team of biostatisticians to support statistical design and running the simulation. Creating a R statistical software package to operationalize the statistical design and beta testing it to ensure robust operating. Registering the R statistical software on CRAN. Contributing to publications and maintaining reproducible code and records. 

Job Responsibilities

  • Assists faculty in preparation of IRB proposals.
  • Assists with data development and collection.
  • Analyzes research data using basic and advanced statistical methodologies; interprets results for clinical investigators and prepares reports.
  • Performs short-term and long-term biostatistical consultations with clinical investigators.
  • Assists in database design programming and database management.
  • Assists in the development of research designs.
  • Contributes to teaching biostatistical methodology to medical students, residents, fellows and other staff.
  • Writes methods sections and analysis plans for incorporation into protocols, abstracts, manuscripts and grants.

Education

  • Master's Degree in related field

Experience

Approximately 2 years of related experience:

  • Advanced expertise in R coding skills
  • Experience developing R statistical software packages
  • Experience with statistical simulations preferred
  • Knowledge of causal inference preferred
  • Past experience developing academic publications preferred
