Position Summary
The Policy Analyst plays a vital role in advancing WCM’s Policy Office and supporting its oversight in the development, management, review, and enhancement of policies. Reporting directly to the Director of Policy, this position requires exceptional attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and analytical abilities to ensure policies are clear, compliant with healthcare regulatory requirements, and standardized. The role involves managing multi-faceted policy projects, collaborating with policy owners, and communicating policy developments and updates to stakeholders.
Job Responsibilities
- Serve as a resource for the institution’s policy program, providing guidance and support to departments in policy creation, review, and updates.
- Conduct in-depth research and analyze regulatory requirements to draft clear, compliant, and consistent policy language that aligns with healthcare standards.
- Engage with policy owners and stakeholders throughout the policy development cycle — from drafting, reviewing, and approval to final publication.
- Assist policy owners in creating supplementary documents and review final drafts to ensure policies meet institutional standards, ensuring consistency and accuracy before publication.
- Maintain and update a policy tracking system to log the status of all policies, ensuring proper version control management practices are followed including timelines.
- Collaborate with ITS for the management of policy composition software and ensure the policy repository is searchable and easily accessible for stakeholders.
- Monitor changes to policies and ensure relevant stakeholders are kept informed of updates in a timely and efficient manner.
- Contribute to the development of training materials, communications, and educational resources to support policy modifications or introductions.
- Assist the Director of Policy in day-to-day operations, including preparing presentation materials, managing policy-related documents, conducting audits, responding to inquiries, and handling administrative tasks for the Policy Office.
- Support the Director of Policy in analyzing industry regulations, standards, and organizational needs to continuously enhance the policy program.
Education
- Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field (e.g., law, business, compliance, public policy, or healthcare administration). An advanced degree is highly preferred.
Experience
- Experience in healthcare administration or knowledge with healthcare regulation is highly desirable.
- Experience with policy development or compliance management in a healthcare setting is an advantage.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Strong analytical abilities to conduct research, interpret regulatory requirements, and make informed decisions for policy development.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills to draft policy language clearly and effectively collaborate with various stakeholders.
- Strong organizational skills to maintain a systematic and efficient repository of policies, manage version control, and coordinate website management tasks.
- Basic project management skills to help coordinate the policy inventory, review, and approval processes.
- Ability to manage complex projects with a high degree of accuracy and focus on meeting deadlines.
- Strong commitment to ensuring accuracy, compliance, and clarity in all policy documents.
- A team player with a collaborative approach to policy development and stakeholder engagement.
- Capable of managing multiple priorities while maintaining high standards of work quality and efficiency.
Licenses and Certifications
- Professional certification in a compliance related field, such as health care compliance, CHC is preferred.
