Position Summary

With attending radiologist supervision, the procedural radiologist assistant (RA) will be expected to appropriately review the medical record and perform all services related to adult gastrointestinal fluoroscopy in the outpatient, inpatient and emergency department settings.

Job Responsibilities

  • Perform adult gastrointestinal and genitourinary fluoroscopy on outpatient, inpatient and emergency department patients.
  • Respond to consultation requests from referring physicians.
  • Scribing and performing dictations for body imaging, primarily abdomen Xray and fluoroscopy exams.
  • Collect, organize, and summarize clinical data and supporting materials and presents to sub-specialty radiologist. Work closely with radiologist to develop imaging plan. Document and assist in communicating plan to referring physician and to the patient.
  • Schedule and coordinate consultation between patients and radiologists. Assist in scheduling complex imaging cases which require the presence of the Radiologist during exam.
  • Monitors imaging cases which may require direct supervision by Radiologist Assistant to ensure A) optimal imaging outcome; and B) to allow for targeted imaging during the exam.
  • Works closely with the radiologists and assists in tracking of critical results and imaging follow-up recommendations.
  • Position is a mix of 50% onsite performing fluoroscopy and 50% remote work drafting abdomen X-rays, select ultrasound exams, protocoling exams, and assisting the Radiologist in other facets of abdominal imaging.

Education

  • Radiologist Assistant Degree

Experience

Some experience preferred, however is not mandatory. Training will be provided for all candidates in GI and GU fluoroscopy.

Training in GI and GU fluoroscopy exams will be provided, as needed

Licenses and Certifications

  • Current, active and unrestricted New York State License in Radiographic Technology (RT)
  • NY State Specialist Assistant License
