Position Summary
Under general direction, is responsible for performing programming and statistical activities including the cleaning, maintenance, and analysis of various databases surrounding research protocols. This role will also provide assistance in the development of poster presentations, scientific manuscripts, and protocols.
This position will be working in substance use research and requires using person-first non-stigmatizing interpersonal communication skills.
Job Responsibilities
- Provides assistance to principle investigators in developing and executing research projects, including but not limited to, study design, data analysis and the contribution of written sections for IRB applications and scientific manuscripts.
- Analyzes research data using basic and advanced statistical methodologies; interprets results for non-statistical investigators and prepares reports.
- Participates in research meetings and the development of study protocols to provide input on the capabilities of the databases available and study methodology.
- Cleans and manipulates databases to prepare for statistical analyses using software languages (e.g. SAS, R).
- Performs quality assurance of data outputs.
- Keeps records of datasets and analyses.
- Assists in the development and formatting of poster presentations for scientific conferences.
- Assists in the development of scientific peer reviewed journal articles, including but not limited to, conducting literature reviews, writing methods and results sections, and developing tables and figures.
Education
- Bachelor's Degree in related field
Experience
- Master's degree is desirable.
- Approximately 3-5 years of prior relevant experience working with and manipulating data.
- Proficiency in SAS, Stata, or R.

- Detail oriented and superb organizational skills.
- Ability to multi-task and self-prioritize work.
- Demonstrated excellent communication skills ability to explain data principles clearly and simply.
